Family Session Christmas Weekend!

I know it has been a long time since I posted last, but here is a recent session with a college friend of my husband's and his family. There are many more, but these are just some of the highlights!

Our friend with his dad and sister. I just love it when my subjects stay nice and still!

Moving onto the kids. They did really well but this little guy wasn't giving up many smiles for me. I think he just wanted to go play with my kids!

Mats finally got his emotions going when his Papa started to play with him. I love this shot and how his little hand is gently touching his papa's face. Can I get an "awwwwwwww."

Miss Natalie sat still for a couple shots but was on the move after that!

And Alicia. She did great but liked looking everywhere but the camera! Here is one where I gained eye contact and a smile at the same time! Wahooooo!

Fabulous Fall Session!

Meet Austin! He was full of energy but in general very cooperative and fun to work with! We were lucky to get this session done between rain the evening before and high winds later in the day. The overcast sky produced some nice soft lighting and I could have kept shooting all day!!!

Jacob's Senior Portraits

Jacob was a great subject and we had lots of fun in the alleys behind the Uptown mall in Richland! My husband was there to assist and we both enjoyed hearing about Jacob's plans to become an officer in the Marines! Since my husband and I are both former Army officers (my husband going through West Point and I through ROTC) it was nice to be able to share our experiences with him.

So when Jacob showed up in a striped shirt I have to admit I was a bit wary of the combination. I always suggest solid color clothes b/c it keeps the attention on the face in a portrait. But Jacob's outfit definitely grew on me throughout the session and worked very well, I think, on the red-tiled wall.

Here is a sneak peak for Jacob and his family. I look forward to showing them the rest this week!

Jumping Ahead!

Well there is more to share from my big road trip in August, but let me post some updates from a few recent sessions! This little cutie is Faith and she was a MOVER! She is only 8-months old but she was already crawling and definitely not interested in sitting still for her portrait!!! I think we still managed to do pretty well and got some definite keepers. We did the session at Faith's grandma's house and there was the cutest little dog there. Macy was adorable and I was happy to get a few quick portraits of her as well!

Next stop on the Road Trip!

Well, after staying at my sister's for three nights we headed into San Jose to stay with our friends for three nights. As a thank you I offered to take some portraits of their youngest! She is a little doll and although this was a super-quick session I think we got some great shots. Here are a few that caught my eye!

Another Senior!

This is a friend of my niece's and we did her session at the same time. She was such an easygoing girl and did whatever I asked. I am slowly but surely getting through the rest of these and will get the full proof set out soon!

Sneak Peak for Holli!

I was gone for most of August on a roadtrip with my two kiddos! We started off taking two days to drive to the Sacramento area to see my sister and her family. We ALWAYS have a good time there, and my two nieces, ages 12 and 16 (at the time, 17 now!) were great with my kids. I was flattered that they wanted me to take Holli's senior pictures while I was there so I brought my "studio" with me so we could create some great indoor shots as well as some outside. Well, we just got back from our trip last Saturday after being gone for 3 1/2 weeks! I haven't been able to proof all the images yet but here is a bit of a sneak peek of what I have so far! I can't wait to show the rest!!!

Holli has an AMAZING smile as I'm sure you can see. I do actually have some with her not smiling but I think I was just drawn to these initially because her smile is so radiating and "sunny!" :-)

Happy Baby!

I ran into a friend at the Battelle Salmon Bake this past weekend and couldn't resist taking a quick picture of her cute baby boy! He was in a good mood with big smiles.... a perfect combination for a perfect image! I love the bright colors in his shirt too. It has SUMMER written all over it!

Beautiful Woman Session!

Tag Line: "I'm not 40, I'm 18 with 22 years experience!"

This was done for a client who is turning 40 and just wanted to celebrate herself!!! What a great attitude and a fun lady! She is also the hair and makeup stylist, Susan Hayward, listed on the postcard below.

As women, we are often the ones taking the pictures and rarely in pictures ourselves. Wouldn't it be nice to have a portrait of yourself that celebrates you? It doesn't necessarily have to be romantic or sexy.... maybe you are just after a classy portrait to display on a loved ones' desk. What better way to do it then with a hair and makeup stylist included in the session fee! I know this is an area I don't excel in myself and having a professional take care of my hair and makeup, especially for a portrait, would be essential!

Don't be shy ladies, give me a ring!!!

My Little Angels.....

Well, these were taken on Mothers' Day. It was my only request. No eating out at a fancy restaurant, no presents, no chocolate or flowers! I wanted new portraits of my kids! Let's just say my kids haven't grasped the concept of doing something they don't want to do in order to make someone else happy!! However, we did get it done and I AM happy with the results. I can't believe how fast these guys are growing..... I want to capture everything about them. But I'll take one expression at a time.

Three Boys!

This session came about as a result of a drawing at a business open house. A wonderful lady won the complimentary session and two 5x7 images, a $160 value, and chose to use the session for her three boys! We were a little worried as the week came to a close and there were still very strong winds on Friday. But, it cleared up and calmed down and we had nice weather Saturday morning for the shoot!

Her boys did great and I am quite pleased with the results! Here are a few favorites of each boy from the session. Enjoy!

Irish Dancing

I am thrilled to have the opportunity to take pictures of members in a local Irish Dancing group. These pictures will be taken before their recital coming up on May 27th. One of the instructors brought her daughter over to create some sample images of what our setup will be at the recital. Here are the results!

"New" Relatives!

On our way back from Jamacia we stayed in the Seattle area for a couple days. The second night we got to meet one of my second cousins (whom I had never met) and his family! I wasn't planning on taking out my camera but in the morning I noticed the wonderful light coming in their dining room window and couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a few shots of Casie, my cousin's daughter. I think these turned out great and I am glad I broke out the camera for this quick 2-minute "session!"

Catching Up!!!

Well, I am a bit behind on posting here on my blog. We had a family vacation the first part of April and met three other families in Jamacia! We took our time getting there (not really by choice).... driving to Seattle April 1st, flying out April 2nd to Dallas for a one-night layover, and then getting into Jamacia on April 3rd just to get on a shuttle for 2 1/2 hours to get to the resort! But once we were there it was great and the highlight was definitely seeing our good friends from when we lived in San Jose, CA!

Here are some scenic shots of our surroundings for the week. Not bad....!!

This was the beautiful view from our room. It was very relaxing sitting on the couch with the sliding doors open and the breeze and ocean noises gently rolling in!
